Our History
Blythefield Memory Gardens was established in 1958 by Herb and Fran Clemens, with development led by Leonard A. Versluis. The Clemens envisioned the cemetery as a place for generations to come, honoring families who have lost loved ones with the highest respect while also planning for future Clemens family members.
As one of the last family-owned and operated cemeteries in West Michigan, Blythefield Memory Gardens has been recognized as the best-maintained and most manicured memorial garden in the state. This distinction reflects our dedication to maintaining a serene and beautiful environment for all who visit.
From its inception, Blythefield Memory Gardens has become a boutique memorial garden, offering families customized and catered options to support their vision of memorializing and honoring their loved ones. Our cemetery spans 48 acres, with 18 acres currently developed, featuring beautiful flowering trees, meticulously maintained landscaping, and abundant flower gardens.
Each garden within the cemetery has its unique charm:
Apostles Garden: Showcasing a hand-carved marble columbarium imported from Italy in the late 1960s. It is the largest garden and holds traditional bronze on granite headstone
Serenity Mausoleum: Providing individual and companion crypts for above-ground traditional burials.
Garden of Prayer: Featuring the Praying Hands rests in the South East section of the cemetery. Here lies cremation columbarium niches for above-ground cremation burials for both individual and companion niches.
Garden of the Last Supper: Sits on the East side of the gardens and is a beautiful & tranquil garden abundant with flowering trees and natural beauty.
Babyland: Dedicated to those who left this earth as infants and small children.
Nature Garden: Close to our natural artesian well, offering upright memorial options for traditional and cremation burials.
